Interactive Map: Tool Bar Features

Click to return to the last map view.
—Buffer
Brings up a form to the right of the map view to display a shaded circle(s) of the radius inputted around selected site(s). The site(s) must be selected using the Select by Rectangle or Select by Line/Polygon before you can create a buffer.
—Clear Selection
Clears all search results to the left of the map and clears selected sites, site labels, buffers, lines, etc. on the map.
—Identify
Click and release the mouse while the mouse pointer is positioned at a symbol representing a site (all sites, NPL sites, etc.) or a feature (Municipal Boundaries, Highways, etc) that is on the map, the information will then be displayed in the frame to the right of the map or in a new browser window. Only features or sites indicated as active can be identified.
—Locate Address
Brings up a form to the right of the map view to search for all sites in a X mile by X mile square centered on a specific address (X is the number entered next to "search window:"). An exact address is required with house number and street name and a zip code is extremely helpful in getting the desired results.
—Measure
Click and release on any point on the map then click and release on a second point. A distance will then be displayed above the map showing the distance between the two points. Continue pointing at additional points to show distances from the first point as measured along each of the segments. Click on the clear selection tool to start new line segments.
—Pan
Click and drag a a point on the map, release the mouse to perform the pan.
—Print
Brings up browser window with printable version of the current map view.
—Search
Brings up the search feature to the right of the map view. This feature can also be accessed by clicking on the search tab to the right of the map view.
—Select by Line/Polygon
Click and select at least 2 points for a line and at least 3 points for a polygon then click Complete Line and Select or Complete Polygon & Select to select all sites along a line or within a polygon.
—Select by Rectangle
Click and drag a point on the map to create a rectangle around a site(s). Release the mouse button to select and list the site(s) within the rectangle in the results tab to the right of the map.
—Set Units
Brings up a form to the right of the map view to change units used by the scale bar and measure tool. Miles is the default unit for display units and Map Units (UTM coordinates shown below the map) cannot be changed from meters.
—Zoom In / Zoom Out
Click either the Zoom In or Zoom Out button, then you can either click then release the mouse while the mouse pointer is in the map and the map will zoom either in or out two times the previous size, or click then drag the mouse in the map to form a zoom rectangle and release the mouse to perform the zoom.
—Zoom to Active Layer
Click to view all sites in current active layer. Most sites and features are state wide so the view returned is usually the whole state.
—Zoom to Full Extent
Click to return to view of the entire state.
